Here is basically what happens step by step,
The customer contacts us about having some covers made, we set up an appointment to look at the furniture and give a price. In most cases we can give you the price at the time you call, you need to tell us what you need covered, for example, a sofa and loveseat. How many cushions it has, how many loose throw pillows (which includes all pillows including the back pillows) also if the sofa is a sectional, how many piece sectional is it, and also is the furniture wing back and/or does the furniture have built in recliners.
We then will go to the customers house to fit the furniture for the plastic and pick up a deposit. (A deposit is required before any work is done). When we do the fitting we are actually making the covers, we make patterns for the cushions and pillows and pin and cut the plastic for the bodies, the fitting will normally take about 2 to 3 hours for a Sofa, Love seat and chair.
We then bring the plastic back to the shop where the bodies go right to the sewers and the cushions and pillows go to the cutting table, once the plastic for the cushions and pillows are made they then go to the sewers
About a week after the cutting, the covers are ready to deliver.
We then deliver the covers on the date and time we set up when originally writing up the order, we come out and install the covers and pick up the balance on the bill. that basically covers it.

Once we fit the furniture it normally takes one week to bring the covers back and install them, if you are having your furniture cleaned, try to do so about 3-4 days before we return the plastic to give the furniture a chance to dry. If you are ordering covers by mail, it will take up to one week to mail the covers once we have recieved your payment and measurements.

Our covers come with a 90 day unconditional guarantee, and 1 year on the seams and zippers, however if you have had the covers longer than a year, still call us as we can check out what has happened and for a very minor repair we may still repair it for free or for a very low price depending on how much work needs to be done.

We only use the 10 guage plastic, there are other guages avaliable such as 8 guage and 12 guage but they have to be special ordered which costs extra and we WILL NOT guarantee the covers.

It depends on a number of factors, if your paying by check then the answer is no, if by Cash or credit card then it depends on the size of the job and on our current work load, when we come to do the fitting feel free to ask and we can let you know for sure.

No - at this time we do not clean furniture, we can however recommend a very good cleaner, we can give you his number when we come to fit the job. You can also check our links page, we will soon be adding usefull links for other similar furniture related services.

I myself have been doing this for 21 years, there is no type of furniture I can't cover, however some people request that the furniture be covered a certain way, the way I make the covers is the best possible way to cover the furniture and what people recommend isn't always the best possible way to cover the furniture we can do it your way but we will not guarantee it.
Yes we do - for seniors discount we usually waive the sales tax. Just let us know when we are writing up the order.

This is the general area we work in, we go from Pontiac, Michigan to Toledo, Ohio and from Ann Arbor, Michigan to Mt. Clemens, Michigan this includes the entire Detroit area and Toledo Ohio as well, we do not do any work in Canada however email us and we can talk.
We can do work in other areas as well but this will require certain circumstances, first there must be a minimum of 3 jobs in the area, a non-refundable deposit must be made prior to the fitting date for all of the jobs, the balance must be paid at the fitting and while there I will explain how to install the covers, once the covers are made we will mail the completed covers to you and you will have to install them yourself. (Its actually easy to do). If you know a few people in your area that would like some work done, contact us via email and we can start to get everything all set up.

Yes we do, contact us for a price.

Since the very first day I started working for Nationwide Plastic we have always made the extra arm covers, we have customers who swear by them, the owner of another plastic company once asked why we make the covers and said they was a waste of time, I laughed and said - "yes but they work", The extra arm covers protect the plastic on the arm from wear, many times I made new arm covers for customers, it was alot cheaper for them to pay $10 a pair for the arm covers than to pay a few hundred for a new set of covers.

I get asked this alot, alot of people ask for beige, gray, and black., unfortunatly they only make a couple colors which are Clear, Blue, Yellow/Gold, Green, and Red/Pink. Note: All quoted prices are for the clear plastic, there is an extra charge for the colors.

We work 6 days a week from Monday thru to Saturday, the hours vary day to day, the latest we'll go to look at a job is 8 pm, if it is a large job we can not cut it that late though, typical time frames for cutting are, set of dining room chairs - 15-20 min each pattern, a sofa, love seat or chair takes each about 30 mins to and hour each.

There are some repairs that we can do on the furniture, we only do this for our plastic cover customers, we will not come out only for a repair. Ask while we are there and show us what you need fixed, we can let you know whats best.

We WILL NOT repair covers made by any other company - not for any price!, typically what happens is that people call around for a price, the other company will go out and give a price, if they know the customer talked to us they will give a price that is normally about $25 to $50 cheaper knowing what we typically charge. The customer who is excited about saving that little bit of money will call them back, what they don't realize is that the other company doesn't guarantee their work, they even mention it on the receipt the customer signs. Once something happens to the plastic is when they first find out the hard way, I even had a couple of the other company's customers call saying we did the work and they wanted us to repair it, we keep records and know better. One even swore it was us stating she wouldn't use anyone else, I have on the computer when we gave her the estimate and she said she would call back but she didn't, I asked her to describe the person who did it and she said it was a short older italian man driving an SUV., Sorry I said, wasn't us - check your reciept and good luck. The bad part was I felt sorry for her because she only had the covers for 3 months.

The answer is normally no, we do not take living or dining room furniture, if however your having a fancy lamp shade covered we do bring one in with us, also if your having the foam replaced in cushions - we do need to bring those in as well, and for dining room chair seats that the customer wants stapled. Other than that the majority of the work is done in the customers house.
I've been asked this a few times, a good answer is no, if you insist however - we can do it but it will not be cheaper than covering it normally and it WILL NOT be guaranteed.

There are a number of answers here, If you live out of the area and you have a set of old covers on the furniture, you can send those to us to use as a pattern and we can make the covers using the old ones as a pattern, there is an additional charge for doing this to cover the cost of shipping and the additional work as far as taking the old covers apart to use. Also we will not return the old covers.
If you own or manage a hotel, apartment building etc... and need a large quantity made, email us with the full details and we'll see what we can do.
You can also send us a picture of your furniture, if we run across the set or know where a similar set is we then can do it for you.
Other than that we really cannot do much for you.

I've seen the covers last from one year up to 30 years, a number of factors apply from the type of furniture to the amount of traffic in the house. The average time is usually about 5-10 years.

Call us right away, do not put it off as it will cause further problems down the road - it is much easier to repair a minor repair than to do a major one, if you let the damage get too bad, we may not even be able to repair it.
We have found over the years that the best thing to clean the covers with is a soft mild soap, Dish soap works the best, we also found that Windex and other similar cleaners will cause the plastic to dry out real fast, and should not be used.
The minimum price we will come out for is $25 this usually equals to one cushion or 3 sets of arm caps or a small repair. (There is no minimum for repairs under warranty) - If the work you need done is on a set of furniture that was covered within the last year, there is no charge - providing the covers were properly cared for.
